Morocco’s national carrier, Royal Air Maroc, has announced the launch of a new nonstop route connecting Casablanca and Los Angeles, marking a significant milestone for African aviation.
The airline will begin operating direct flights between Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport on June 7, 2026. The service will run three times a week and is expected to strengthen travel links between Africa and the United States West Coast.
The new route makes Royal Air Maroc the second African airline to offer nonstop flights to Los Angeles, further expanding the continent’s presence in long haul international aviation. It also establishes the first direct passenger air connection between Africa and the United States Pacific Coast.
According to the airline, the move comes in response to rising international travel demand ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The route is expected to serve African and Moroccan diaspora communities, business travelers, tourists, and football fans traveling to North America for the tournament.
Royal Air Maroc Chief Executive Officer Hamid Addou described the launch as a historic step for both the airline and African air connectivity. He noted that the new service aligns with the carrier’s broader strategy to expand its global network and position Morocco as a major aviation hub linking Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
The Los Angeles route also supports Morocco’s long term tourism and transportation ambitions as the country prepares to co host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.
Flights will be operated using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, offering passengers modern long haul travel amenities and enhanced onboard comfort.
Industry observers believe the new connection will improve access between Africa and the western United States while creating additional opportunities for tourism, trade, and investment between the regions.
