Ghana’s Robofest Team Apex from Mikrobot Academy recently won the Junior Division title at the 2026 Robofest World Championships in Michigan, United States.
The Ghanaian team secured the title after competing against 26 teams from 19 countries. The competing teams came from the United States, China, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, and and a range of other countries.
Team Apex was made up of Faiz Sornyiina Abdul-Wahab, Tiana Lilian Naa-Chardey Taylor, Israel Yeboah Awuah, Inaaya Khan, and Aalia Mehreen.
Founded in 1999, Robofest is hosted by Lawrence Technological University in Michigan. The competition is recognised as one of the world’s leading robotics events for young innovators.
Participants design and programme fully autonomous robots capable of completing assigned tasks without remote control.
The competition brings together students from different countries to test their engineering, coding, and problem-solving abilities.
