Egypt has expressed interest in expanding its agricultural investments in Tanzania by reclaiming farmland and establishing logistics zones to strengthen trade and food production between the two countries.
The proposal was discussed during high level talks between officials from Egypt and Tanzania. Egypt said the planned investments would support agricultural development, improve food security, and enhance the movement of goods across East Africa through modern logistics infrastructure.
Beyond agriculture and trade, Egypt also called for stronger cooperation among countries in the Nile Basin on water related matters. The country emphasized the importance of dialogue and collaboration in managing the shared Nile River, which remains a critical source of water for millions of people across the region.
The discussions come as Egypt continues to deepen economic partnerships across Africa while seeking regional cooperation on issues affecting sustainable development. Tanzania, with its vast agricultural land and strategic location, is viewed as an important partner in advancing these goals.
If implemented, the proposed projects could boost agricultural productivity, create employment opportunities, strengthen regional trade networks, and further reinforce economic ties between Egypt and Tanzania.
