Ghana is Developing West Africa’s First Full Scale Medical Robotics Center

Health
Ghana is developing West Africa’s first full-scale medical robotics center, transforming surgeries, diagnostics, and training.

Featuring surgical robots, AI diagnostics, and remote-care tools, it also trains engineers and medical students.
This initiative positions Ghana as a regional health-tech leader, creating a homegrown ecosystem for innovation, talent, and Africa’s next-generation medical technology.

Vice President of the Health Community of West Africa Association (HCOWA), Prince Opoku Dogbey, stated that AI-powered robotics would be designed to complement, not replace, the work of doctors.
“We are doing this to bridge the gap when it comes to the health challenges we are facing here in Ghana.”
