Technology
Google has officially opened applications for the 2026 edition of its Hustle Academy programme for entrepreneurs, small business owners and students across Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa.

The programme is designed to help Africans gain practical digital and artificial intelligence skills that can support business growth and career development. According to Google, the 2026 edition will feature shorter and more flexible learning sessions to make participation easier for busy entrepreneurs and students.

This year’s programme will include one day bootcamps and 60 minute expert led webinars focused on artificial intelligence, digital marketing, leadership, customer engagement and business strategy.

Google said the updated format was created to help participants learn practical skills without disrupting their daily schedules. The company also revealed that AI training has now been fully integrated into the programme’s curriculum. Participants will learn how to automate marketing tasks, analyse customer behaviour, improve creative processes and reduce administrative workload using AI tools.
The tech company noted that Africa’s digital economy is expected to grow significantly in the coming years. However, many businesses across the continent are still struggling with a shortage of digital and AI related skills.

Siya Madikane, Communications and Public Affairs Manager at Google South Africa, said entrepreneurs and graduates with AI skills will have a stronger advantage in today’s job market and business environment.

Since its launch in 2022, Google Hustle Academy has trained more than 18,000 small and medium sized businesses across Africa. Participants also gain access to mentorship opportunities, practical business resources and a growing network of entrepreneurs and industry experts.

The programme is completely free and no technical degree is required to apply.

Applications for the 2026 Google Hustle Academy are currently open for eligible participants in Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa.
