Burkina Faso has officially opened more than 22 kilometres of modern roads in its capital city, Ouagadougou, marking a major step in the country’s urban infrastructure development drive.
The inauguration was carried out during a government-led ceremony that brought together senior officials, including the Prime Minister, alongside key stakeholders in the construction and transport sectors.
The newly delivered road network includes the Rocade Nord and several strategic urban routes designed to improve traffic flow and connect key administrative and security zones within the city.
Authorities stated that the project is part of a broader national effort to modernise urban transport systems and reduce congestion in fast growing areas of the capital.
The infrastructure covers multiple key corridors, including access roads linking major institutions, residential districts, and security installations. The upgrades are expected to improve travel time, enhance safety, and support economic activities within Ouagadougou.
Government officials also highlighted that the road development aligns with long term plans to strengthen national infrastructure capacity and support urban expansion.
The project was delivered with an investment estimated at over 40 billion CFA francs, reflecting the scale and strategic importance of the works carried out.
Officials further emphasized the need for citizens to maintain and protect the infrastructure through responsible road use and adherence to traffic regulations.
The new roads are expected to play a key role in easing movement within the capital while supporting future development projects across the country.
