US City Newark Declares December 12 As Burna Boy Day

Arts and Culture
The proclamation came on the day the Afrofusion singer held the US leg of his No Sign of Weakness tour at the 18,000-capacity Prudential Center in Newark.

The city’s municipal council said the honour recognizes Burna Boy as a global cultural ambassador whose work has positively impacted communities worldwide.
It added that the singer has used his platform to promote African culture, encourage unity, and inspire millions through music and humanitarian efforts.

With this, Newark becomes the second US city to honour Burna Boy with a special day.
In March 2024, Boston officials also declared March 2 as Burna Boy Day, recognising his cultural impact, achievements and global promotion of African music.
